A song is being recorded at a recording studio, for the film Kill Chhabra, and it is here that we catch up with director-producer, Onir. Talking about the film, he says, It is about six friends. Four of the cast have been finalised Manav Kaul, Gul Panag, Sanjay Suri and Rannvijay the rest two are yet to be decided on. One of the six friends in the film is murdered by a person named Chhabra.
The plot of the film revolves around the plan the rest of the five make to kill him.
Violence is something that is easily accepted on screen by the audiences today. When someone handles a gun or a rifle it is something that is not difficult to accept. But, imagine holding a rifle to kill someone in real life. Isnt it scary? questions Onir, adding, The film deals with exactly that. The feelings and the fright the other friends go through while they plan to get rid of the killer in revenge.
He is known to have dealt with real life issues. Why is that? My film has to be relevant to something that is true, to something that is happening around you and me. I have always indulged in such scripts, says Onir with a glint in his eye.
Onir, who directed My Brother Nikhil and Bas Ek Pal, has this time around passed the baton to his scriptwriter Ashwini Mallik and is content with producing the film along with Sanjay Suri. Incidentally, Ashwini has also written the script for Onirs next directorial venture called Sorry Bhai, starring Shabana Azmi, Sharman Joshi, Chitrangada Singh, Boman Irani and Sanjay Suri.
Why is he not directing this crime thriller himself? Ashwini has written the script and when someone does that, they have certain details visualised already in mind. So, I thought he should direct it and see it come to life the way he wants, says Onir.
Well, it looks like theres another realistic director in the making. But, we cant wait to see Onir back in action again.
